Adult Education St. James’ Christian Education Program Beginning October 24 . . . It’s never too late to participate in one of our adult Christian Education classes or to bring your children to Sunday School. 9:15 am Adult Forum Beginning on Oct. 24 Making Moral Decisions Parish Hall Meeting Room 10:05 am Sunday School for Children and Youth Church Lower Level Classes for 3-year-olds through 8th graders are offered in the lower level of the church building. Childcare is also provided in the nursery for infants and toddlers. A class for high school youth meets in the rector’s office. 10:05 am The Oddities of Worship at St. James’ Parish Hall Library Have you ever wondered why we do some of the things we do during a worship service at St. James’? Why do some people kneel during the Prayer of Consecration while others stand? How come some people bow when they enter a pew? What’s with the Holy Water font in the chapel area? And why do we change colors on the altar hangings throughout the year? These and many other questions will be addressed in this two-session series, led by the Rev. Cindy Baskin. All are invited and we hope you’ll bring your questions. October 24: Church Customs and Ceremonials October 31: An Introduction to the Church Year and Calendar 10:05 am First Corinthians Bible Study SJCS, Room 106 The Rev. Prince Williams will continue to lead a study of Paul's first letter to the church in Corinth, seeking those ways in which our present church is similar or dissimilar to that very early Christian community. 10:05 am Parenting Is Your Highest Calling Children’s Chapel This book study, sponsored by the Diapers and Devotions (D&D) group, continues with a discussion of the book, Parenting Is Your Highest Calling and Eight Other Myths that Trap Us in Worry and Guilt, by Leslie Leyland Fields. Discussion will focus on the many ways God and our spiritual lives inform how we raise our young families. 10:05 am Current Events - Theology and Ethics Parish Hall Meeting Room Facilitated by the Rev. Elton O. Smith, this class relates top stories in the news headlines to ethical and theological issues we face as Christians. 10:05 am The Spirituality of Parenting SJCS, Room 105 Facilitated by the various parishioners, this class begins on October 24 with Kirsten Hall leading a discussion on Halloween and how Christians should respond.
