St. James' Potomac

Christian Education

Our aim at St. James'  is to create an environment where children experience the presence of the Holy Spirit through play, art, crafts, and Bible study. By allowing the Holy Spirit to work, all, regardless of age, draw closer to Jesus.

Sunday Mornings for Children

Nursery

Care provided by our nursery workers is available from 9:15 to 12 noon. We provide a cheerful and joyous environment for our young ones to play and grow.

Ages 3 - K

Children’s Church: 10:30

Our much beloved Parke Brown, conductor of the Children’s service for over 30 years, teaches the children the greatest story ever told. By the end of their time with Mr. Brown, children can recite the books of the New Testament in order, identify altar accouterments, tell you all about Jesus, as well as worship.

Sunday School

After Children’s Church, these children go to Sunday School.  They then have age appropriate activities centered on scripture. A snack is provided. These children return to the nave in time to join their families for communion.

Grades 1-8

Sunday School: 10:30

We use the "Living the Good News" curriculum. Our dedicated team of teachers and helpers are here to help your children learn about and grow in their faith. We  bring the children to join their parents at the Offertory.

Age 3-Grade 5

Kingdom Kids: 10:30 Second Sunday of the month

Kingdom Kids is a puppet show extravaganza where children learn bible stories and life applications. The week before each Kingdom Kids, children are mailed an invitation, a prayer to write to God, and their ‘key to the Kingdom.’ The keys are Bible memory verses reflecting the theme of the day. We have music, prayer time, offertory collection, puppet show, Bible skit, crafts and games. Committed Junior High’s act out the Bible skit, while the Senior High’ work the puppets.
