Christian Education at St. James '
The aim of our Christian Education staff and volunteers is to create environments for children where they experience the love of God as they learn more about his presence in their lives. Youth and adult programs offer insights into the work of the Christian in the world as well as the work of God in our lives.
Sunday Mornings
The Nursery in the church undercroft provides care for infants and toddlers from 10:15 a.m. until the end of the service. The loving attention our nursery worker and volunteers provide give the smallest church members a secure place to play and grow.
Children's Church for children from three years old through kindergarten begins at
10:30 a.m. The children are welcomed by Parke Brown, who has been teaching this age
children about Jesus, the Bible, and the church for thirty-five years! After Children's
Church the children go to Sunday School, where they have a snack and have
age-appropriate activities centered on scripture. They return upstairs to their families
in time for communion.
Sunday School for children in grades one through five begins at 10:15 a.m., and usually ends in time for the children to join their families at the offertory. The Living the Good News curriculum is used with these classes, and teachers and teen volunteers use the materials with their own innovations to help the children learn and grow in faith.
