The Earth Stewardship Commission was created by your vestry to acknowledge and support the practical and spiritual needs for Christians to appreciate and care for God’s gifts in creation.

As we reflect on the new creation embodied in Christ’s resurrection, we offer these thoughts based on the days of creation outlined in Genesis and with actions and meditations from the carbon fast recommended by the Rt. Rev. John Bryson Chane, Bishop of Washington,* written by the Rt. Rev. James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool.  Each week a different part of God’s beautiful creation is highlighted.  The suggestions are designed to promote appreciation of that valued gift. Act in ways to conserve the creation so that future generations can continue to enjoy the comforts we enjoy.  Consider incorporating at least one of the actions as a permanent lifestyle change.

We invite you to share your reactions and the results of this meditation with the Earth Stewardship Commission.  Ideas for places to visit—as part of this activity or for future enjoyment—appear on the back page.
