Weekly Celebrations, Actions and Meditations
To Promote Earth Stewardship
Week 4: April 13-19: “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years…” (Genesis 1:14, NIV).
Focus on God’s creation of the sky, outer space and weather. Watch the weather channel and marvel at the modern advances in weather prediction. Read about global warming and decide what God is telling us through the tools of science. Decide how you are going to respond to this threat.

Action
· Explore in more depth the environmental challenges we face and their consequences.
· Seal off drafts in your house.
· Find the most environmentally friendly way you can (walk, bike, carpool) to get to work or church .
· Turn your thermostat down.
· Check that all electrical equipment is switched off rather than on standby when not in use.
· Ensure your cell phone charger is unplugged when not in use.
· Check your tire pressure. Low tire pressure means high energy/fuel consumption.

Meditation
“Receive the world God has given. Go for a walk. Get wet. Dig the earth” (Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury). As you do this, meditate on God’s goodness.
