Inquirers’ and
Membership Seminar
May 30-31, 2008
This spring, our rector, Cindy Baskin, will offer a weekend seminar designed for those adults who would like to learn more about the Episcopal Church and St. James’. This course is especially designed for those with busy schedules and provides an opportunity for discussion around issues of faith as well as providing information about the history and worship of the Episcopal Church. Attendance also serves to satisfy the prerequisites necessary to be confirmed or, in the case of previously confirmed Roman Catholics or Orthodox persons, reception into the Episcopal Church. This spring the course will be held in the parish hall bell room on:
Friday, May 30 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Saturday, May 31 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
A service of Confirmation/Reception will be held at Washington National Cathedral on Saturday, June 21, 10:00 am for those desiring to be confirmed/received. Whether you are seeking confirmation or not, you are welcome to join us for this workshop.
In preparation for the workshop, all participants need to read the book, Welcome to the Episcopal Church, by Christopher L. Weber prior to our gathering. This book is only 129 pages, very well written (an easy read), and will provide the fodder for our discussion during the seminar. Copies of the book are available for either loan or purchase ($12.00) through the church office. Just ask Cindy for a copy as soon as possible. A guide for reading the book will also be provided to enhance your reading and our discussion during the seminar.
