Rebuilding Together 2002

For many years the people from St. James' Potomac have actively sponsored and participated in Christmas in April (now called Rebuilding Together) to repair and restore a home in ways that the homeowner simply can't. This year over 40 parishioners volunteered their time and talent to transform a home over the span of several weekends. An advance team rebuilt the kitchen floor and part of the cabinets on April 20.

 On April 27 a team of 30 volunteers cleaned and repainted the exterior of the house, built a new front porch and back deck, landscaped and planted  shrubs and flowers, cleaned and repainted the interior, installed kitchen cabinets and a countertop with sink, and replaced most of the appliances. The pictures shown here depict the transformation that occurred from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, April 27.

In the days after April 27 additional volunteers finished the details that could not be completed on the primary work day.
