St. James' Rummage Sales

St. James' holds a Rummage Sale approximately twice a year. Our next sale will be:

November 11 - 12, 2011
Friday: 9 am to 8 pm
Saturday: 9 am to 3 pm

Our sales usually offer the following categories of goods:

• jewelry
• furniture
• collectibles
• books
• kitchenware
• household items

• tools

Sale information for St. James' parishioners (and others who want to donate or help):

Set-up will be Sunday, November 6, 2011
Clean-up will be in the afternoon of Saturday, November 12, 2011

Donation deadline: Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Donations will not be accepted after this date! Please hold them for the next sale.

GOT STUFF?

Please start collecting suitable items – cold-weather clothing, household items, small furniture, books, toys, and other treasures, and plan to be involved!


HOW TO DONATE:

  • SELECT YOUR STUFF:
    • Art and collectibles
    • Hardback & paperback books
    • Bicycles
    • Records, tapes, CDs, DVDs
    • Kitchen items
    • Jewelry
    • Small appliances
    • Clothing (new or used in good condition) for children and adults
    • Baby equipment
    • Toys and games
    • Sports equipment and home gym
    • Luggage
    • Garden and shop tools
    • Linens and pillows
    • Small furniture (any piece that will fit in a minivan)
    • Household items
    • (We cannot sell: computers, TVs, large furniture, anything that is broken or soiled)
  • STOW YOUR STUFF: Please hold your items until Set-up Sunday (date listed above) if possible. If you must dispose of them, we can put them in the storage shed at church. Call Don Schuessler about this.
  • SORT YOUR STUFF: It will help us if you put clothing, books and other items in separate bags or boxes. If possible, please leave items of better clothing on hangers. We will use the hangers to display the garments.
  • SCHLEP YOUR STUFF: Please bring your donations to the parish hall on Set-up Sunday (date above) or place them in our shed if you absolutely cannot wait. Please bring them by the donation deadline (see above). Tax deduction forms are provided for donations.

WANT TO HELP?
We have the following opportunities for children and adults:

  • SET-UP SUNDAY: Wear casual clothes to church & stay, and/or come back later
    • Help set up tables and clothing racks in the parish hall and post signs
    • Help move boxes and bags from the shed out back to the parish hall
    • Help empty boxes and bags, distribute items to assigned locations
    • Provide child care for volunteers
  • MONDAY & TUESDAY: Help for one or more three-hour shifts
    • Help empty remaining boxes and bags
    • Help fold and sort clothes, arrange shoes in pairs
    • Help set up Boutique Room (better clothing and accessories, jewelry)
    • Help arrange items on tables in various groupings (kitchen, electronics, toys, linens, etc.)
    • Help distribute any new donations as they arrive
    • Provide child care for volunteers
  • WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY:
    • Help with pricing of all items in sale
    • Help distribute any remaining donations
    • Provide child care for volunteers
  • FRIDAY-SATURDAY (days of the sale) between 9:00-8:00 Friday and 9:00-3:00 Saturday:
    • Help as a cashier
    • Help carry bargain boxes outside at 8:00 a.m.
    • Help provide assistance to customers on the sale floor and outside
  • SATURDAY AFTERNOON (clean-up day):
    • Help with clean-up after the sale ends, pack boxes, fold tables
    • Run the vacuum to clean up for Sunday morning activities in the Parish Hall
    • Move unsold items to shed
  • MONDAY-SATURDAY: Help in kitchen, contribute food, for coffee, snacks, lunch for workers
  • MONDAY after the sale, as arranged: Help haul leftover items to Interfaith Works or other charities.
